About Team EastTeam East will be riding 202 miles over 2 days from Rittman, OH to Gateway Woods in Leo, IN.
Day 1 - approx 112 miles Day 2 - approx 95 miles The Team East route is primarily rural with a few higher traffic areas. In the past we have had riders of various ages and skill levels. To participate on Team East riders must be able to maintain an average speed of 14 - 20 mph for the amount of daily miles listed above. Each rider must be able to ride safely in a group and be familiar with the “Rules of the Road” for bicycling. The Gateway Woods Ride in not for the “casual” rider. For Team East you will need to train and be able to be on a bike for up to 8 to 11 hours a day during the ride depending on your average speed. See the Safety First page for more information. To ride with Team East, you must have a road bike. From previous experiences, we have found that riders with hybrids or mountain bikes are unable to keep up with the group pace. If you have any questions about your bike, please send a photo to [email protected]. If you enjoy riding at a pace slower than these averages or fewer miles per day, consider riding with Team West (Team West is also not for the casual biker, but has mileage spread out over 3 days rather than 2). Entry fees cover the cost of your meals during the ride and your Jersey/t-shirt. We ask that each participant donate or raise at least a minimum of $100 for Gateway Woods. You can make your donation while signing up for the ride, ask friends or family to donate on your behalf or both. You can also create your own fundraising page which can easily be shared with friends and family via e-mail or social media. ALL RIDERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A HELMET TO PARTICIPATE. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. |
